The cult course
Did you know that the famous
Chiberta Golf Course owes its creation to the
Duke of Windsor?
As a familiar figure in Anglet, his ambition was to build the
finest golf course in the world there. To that end, in 1927 he entrusted its design to the famous architect,
Tom Simpson, who made admirable use of the
lie of this exceptional spot, nestled between the sea and the forest.
The Chiberta Golf Course has since reigned as a rolling swathe between the
Atlantic and the greenery of the
forest of Le Pignada.
Taking advantage of the hills and dales, it offers
two courses, one with
18 holes and the second with
9 holes, called the
"Empress’s Course".
Although
open throughout the year, the Chiberta Golf Course is nonetheless subject to the whims of the Atlantic weather.
So, ready to try your swing on this
challenging course?
