Lecture by Alain Cugno, as part of Christophe Lamoure's cycle of philosophy lectures.

The aim of this talk is to examine sentiment, in other words, affectivity, which generally has a poor reputation insofar as it is opposed to rationality. Rehabilitating sentiment spontaneously leads us towards morality (good feelings), or towards the question of truth (true and false feelings, authenticity or inauthenticity of emotional life).

I'd like to try something different: to explore the links between feeling and freedom, to try to clarify the paradox that, on the one hand, feeling is passive - but that, on the other, freedom is experienced in a specific feeling, joy and anguish...

Alain Cugno is a philosopher.
