A breathtaking show
The Biarritz Aquarium opens its doors to you for an original discovery of the seabed. Right in the center of Biarritz, facing the Rocher de la Vierge, this Art-Deco building invites visitors to explore 50 aquariums.
The tour begins in front of the Bay of Biscay basins: jellyfish, octopus, seahorses… to discover the species that inhabit the Atlantic coast.
Total immersion in the wonders of the underwater world
After a dive into the cetacean gallery and the history of fishing in the Basque Country, enter the turtle cave for a surprising face-to-face encounter with Alice, the loggerhead turtle. Stop for a moment in front of the seal tank, the Aquarium’s darlings. The seals’ meal is a highlight of the visit, where young and old alike enjoy watching them play and gobble up kilos of mackerel.
You’ll then come across the mangrove swamps and an 11-metre-long coral reef, where fish of improbable shapes and colors twirl before your very eyes. Finally, take time to admire all the residents of the giant 1.5 million-liter aquarium, home to 7 species of sharks, barracudas, rays and the Napoleon fish.
