Anglet 4 seasons

When is the best time to visit Anglet?

Anglet can be experienced all year round! It offers a wide range of activities and landscapes to explore, making each season an opportunity to discover a new facet of the town and try out new activities.

Here in Anglet, the climate is mild and temperate. We even swim here on January 1st for the ‘Bain de midi’, on the Sables d’Or beach in winter.

In summer, our proximity to the mountains and our coastline protect us from the heat waves. Activities and events set the pace throughout the year, peaking in summer.

For those who want to avoid the euphoria of summer and discover Anglet in a different way, spring and autumn are the best times to visit.

In winter, Anglet is the ideal alternative, or the little extra to complete your skiing holiday in the Pyrenees!

Autumn

In October, Anglet lets itself live to the rhythm of Indian summer. Like an extension, a reminder at the end of a show you don’t want to end. The fervor of summer gives way to the gentleness of autumn, which nonetheless retains all the hallmarks of summer pleasures: sunset aperitifs at the cabanons, supervised beaches to enjoy the ocean, water heated for months and pleasant until November. Surf schools welcome happy holidaymakers and locals in search of the thrill of surfing.

Autumn colors seem to take hold of both the sky and the vegetation. The surrounding forests are adorned in warm, shimmering hues, providing the ideal backdrop for invigorating hikes, bike rides or horseback rides through the wooded trails. Golfers will appreciate the verdant courses offering panoramic ocean views.

It’s hard to imagine that winter is just around the corner, lying in the warm sand, lulled by the sound of the waves. However, the swell is gradually swelling, gaining in power and character to the delight of surfers, and it alone bears witness to the change of season.

Winter

While the Contemporary Art Center prepares to host new exhibitions, the Izadia Ecological Park returns to winter. Nature is allowed to rest. The beach huts are dismantled and the beaches reveal their wild profile to the winds, storms and tides.

The raw beauty of the coastline, the power and invigorating force of the ocean – this is what beach lovers come for in winter. Stranded wood becomes a treasure trove for artists and handymen, who turn it into sculptures and other creations. A few brave souls throw themselves into the water with boards or flippers to play with the elements under our admiring gaze. Some choose to run to fill their lungs with iodine, while others prefer long walks, with the ever-magical spectacle of the sunset at the end of the day. Sometimes, like a gift, a warm day brings us together outdoors for a picnic, beach volleyball, a walk or a swim on the beach or in the forest.

Don’t tell anyone, the beach in winter in Anglet is even more enchanting than in summer.

Spring

In spring, Anglet is decked out in its most beautiful colors!

The mimosa, broom and tamarisk in bloom herald the return of fine weather and the opening of the Izadia Ecological Park. The long ribbon of golden sand stretches to the rhythm of the lengthening days, and the beaches get a makeover, shaped and cleaned, gradually welcoming the new collections of bikinis unveiled in the gentle but already very pleasant spring rays.

The lifeguards opened one beach and then another, the cabanons also put up their storefronts, and the first hedonists rediscovered their gustatory and contemplative habits. The coast is once again the place to be for afterworks and sunset aperitifs. The ballet of surf schools and their colorful boards resumes, as do ball games and other beach sports, shovels and buckets included!

The ingredients for a beautiful summer are in place, the warm sand is already generously offered, and the sweetness of life is awakening in all tranquility.

Summer

Every year in Anglet, summer kicks off to the rhythm of music with the ‘Nocturnes de la Chambre d’Amour’ at the end of June. Everything’s in full swing in little French California!

We enjoy, we live, we love, we laugh, we share. Parasol contests on the vast expanses of sand and laughter in the waves, watched over by lifeguards who advise, accompany and make swimming safe.

In summer, you can do everything, but you can also do nothing… lie back on the sand, relax and then treat yourself to an ice cream or a homemade hazelnut chocolate “Krakada”. Every day, the kids have their own program at the Beach Club, which offers a well-deserved break for parents, who can try yoga facing the ocean from the Espace de l’Océan roof terrace!

The forest trails of Pignada, Lazaret and Anglet’s many parks offer refreshing escapades in the heart of verdant nature, sheltered by pines, cork oaks and arbutus trees. At the end of the day, all you have to do is sit back on the sand or on a terrace and admire the sunset.

In summer, we’re happy in every way!
