The craftsmen of gliding

Need a unique, high-performance surfboard? Some of the world’s best shapers practice their art not far from the Brise Lames Marina or on the edge of the Lazaret Forest.

On the banks of the River Adour, it’s a place revered by surfers, where part of the history of surfing on the Basque Coast has been written… While a few notes of music and the scent of resin waft from the hangar, let’s take a look inside: some of France’s most talented shapers work here!

Shapers, glazers, sanders… to each his own style

The “Shaper Family Angloye” handcrafts some of the best boards on the market every week, in a lively exchange of ideas. Craftsmen and artists, shapers, glazers, sanders… each with his own style and techniques brings his personal touch, and you can meet the legends Éric Rougé and Alain Minvielle or the atypical Xavier from MixMix Surfboard with his retro boards… and many other figures from the Anglet surfing universe!

Focus on…

The artist who shapes: Luc Rolland, multi-talented shaper

He has worked for the Courrèges fashion house, believes that surfing is above all a fun, aquatic activity, and exhibits his boards as far afield as Japan. Add to this the fact that this man with the laughing eyes also enjoys working with ceramics, and that he is a painter and sculptor, and the portrait of Luc Rolland, a multi-faceted shaper artist, will have thickened even further. The pure lines of his surfboards make them veritable works of art, which is easy to understand when you read his motto: “Never do the same thing twice”. The best thing to do is to go and admire the work.
