A passion for surfing

Fabien Cayeré, an artist based in Anglet near the Brise-Lames marina, excels in photography, sculpture and fine art. His passion for surfing is reflected in both his sculptures and photographs, earning him recognition as a surf artist. Yet his artistic exploration doesn’t stop there: he also tackles a variety of themes, including landscape and portraiture.

A pioneer in his approach, he created his own cameras from cameras obscura made from tin cans, loaded with silver photographic paper and developed using a 19th-century process.

From Ouagadougou to Anglet Surf Avenue

In sculpture, he began with the artisans of Ouagadougou, where his interest in the arts of fire developed, inspiring the creation of new figurines modeled in beeswax, molded in clay and cast in metal melted at 1200°C.

In 2004, he presented his first series of ethnic and cubist statuettes at the Villa Beatrix Enea in Anglet. In 2018, he contributes to the Anglet Surf Avenue project with a bronze plaque in the shape of a surf “noze”, celebrating surfing legends. Each new footprint-laying ceremony is marked by the installation of a new plaque, enriching the cement slab with its ornaments.
