A true jewel of the 20th century, Sainte-Marie church, built in 1932, has been listed as a historic monument since 2014. The work of architects Pierre Fonterme (1895-1985) and Charles Hébrard (1895-1941), it stands proudly at a height of 40 meters. It replaced the former chapelle de la Chambre d'Amour, built in 1867 and destroyed in 1948, whose cross still stands at the Chapelle traffic circle in Anglet.
The originality of its architecture lies in its clean lines, echoing elements of Art Deco and Basque religious architecture.
Inside, discover the stained glass windows and mosaics created by the Mauméjean workshops in 1938 in the transept, as well as the paintings by Berthe Grimard, sister of André Grimard, adorning the large fresco in the choir.
