Lydie Arickx, a prolific, internationally renowned artist based in the Landes region of France, is one of the leading figures of contemporary French Expressionism. Equally at home in painting, drawing and sculpture, she works in large formats and, for the past ten years, has regularly combined exhibitions with monumental performances, which she delivers live in public.
Entitled Le grand être, the exhibition presented on the two sites of Anglet?s contemporary art center* plunges us into the artist?s vertiginous universe, through an eponymous immersive installation that majestically takes its place in the Galerie Pompidou, original works produced specifically for the site, and a selection of pieces from the artist?s collection of over 30,000 works from 50 years of creation.
