Pinpointing the exact location of old images of Anglet is often a real challenge.
The landscapes have changed, landmarks have disappeared, and the rural town depicted on maps from the 18thand 19th centuries, and later by photographs from 1852 onward, had become, by the beginning of the 21st century, the third-largest city in the department.

This exhibition offers a visual exploration of Anglet’s evolution, neighborhood by neighborhood. The number of images recovered reveals the tourist appeal of certain areas and highlights the profound transformations the city has undergone.
Each panel compares a location from the past with its present-day appearance, allowing visitors to grasp at a glance the changes that have shaped the area.
This meticulous work was carried out by Anglet Patrimoines, in collaboration with photographer François Berland, and invites you to discover—or rediscover—
