Ukrainian pianist Vadym Kholodenko is a singular voice on the international piano scene. A charismatic ambassador for the Russian school of piano, he is also an adventurer, thwarting repertoire expectations with bold choices.
Precocious talent, first international tours at the age of 13, training at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, gold at the Van Cliburn Competition in 2013: Ukrainian Vadym Kholodenko is a favorite in concert halls on every continent. His curiosity finds a sure ally in his playing, which is permeable to all eras. From the English Renaissance to Kaija Saariaho, he broadens the repertoire's perspectives by willingly stepping off the beaten track.
A case in point is this program featuring Karl Klindworth's transcription of Mozart's Requiem, which the pianist recorded on an 1858 Érard piano.
