Meet the local flora and fauna
Man can only understand the world if the world itself is understood in its integrity, i.e. in its relationship with nature. – René Descartes
What a pleasure it is to name the plant species you come across on your walks, or to recognize the animals that cross your path!
Through the eyes of Léo Micouin, Environmental Inspector at the Office Français de la Biodiversité, and Olivier Eudes, agent at Anglet’s Parc Izadia, discover the richness of our local flora and fauna through a selection of 20 species of animals and plants that can be observed in Anglet.
Their photographs, shared on the networks, capture the beauty of the environments they observe and protect. They bear witness to their passion for their profession, and remind us of the importance of preserving our natural heritage.

Observing flora and fauna has become a habit over the years. Having studied urban ecology in Paris, continuing this observation work in Anglet is a godsend for me. It’s a very diverse and rich town in many ways, as evidenced by the many natural spaces that make it up. The coastline and its dune-arrier environments, of which Izadia is a part, the Pignada and Lazaret massifs, the wild paths on the Parma side… I take great pleasure in exploring these areas and photographing their diversity. Each visit also allows me to rediscover the place according to the time of year: as natural spaces, they are in perpetual evolution..
After studying ecology at the Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle in Paris, Léo worked as a naturalist guide at the Parc Écologique Izadia in Anglet.
He is now an Environmental Inspector at the Office Français de la Biodiversité in Lot-et-Garonne. A keen photographer, he captures the species he comes across on his walks. He returns regularly to Anglet and continues to share his photos with us.
We invite you to discover Léo’s beautiful shots on his Instagram account.
